Lip enhancement

What is the Lip enhancement?

The natural ageing process causes your lips to get thinner and lose definition. This problem is particularly pronounced around the V-shaped area of the upper lip known as Cupid ’s bow. Around the mouth, the area between your upper lip and nose can become flattened, and the corners of the mouth may turn downward, creating a tired, aged appearance.

Lip enhancement treatment is chosen by women of all ages who either have naturally thin lips or whose lips have become thinner with age and lost their definition.

Lip filler injections helps fight the signs of aging, by addressing the lips’ texture and smoothness and filling the lines and wrinkles caused by smoking and pursing your lips over time and by adding volume for a fresh, natural, new look.

Some of the substances used for lips enhancement are Restylane (a non-animal, clear gel that is reported to be very close to the hyaluronic acid) and Juvederm (chemically close to Restylane).

What is the procedure?

A local anesthetic will be needed to numb this particularly sensitive area before the filler is injected into the area of the lip to be treated. The treatment takes as little as 30 minutes.

What kind of result can you expect?

Lip enhancement procedures provide immediate results that should last for up to six months after which time you may need a top-up to maintain the volume.

Recovery period and recommendations

Initially there will be some swelling and sometimes bruising in the lip area from the injections. This should quickly subside to reveal your full and plump lips.

Possible side effects and complications

Common reactions can range from redness, swelling or itching at the injection site(s). Other possible complications include bleeding and uneven lips. The usual, expected swelling and bruising can last from several days to a week.
