Climate

Romania has a climate that is transitional between temperate and continental, with four distinct seasons. The average annual temperature is 11°C (52°F) in the south and 8°C (46°F) in the north. 
Summers are generally very warm to hot, with summer (June to August) average maximum temperatures in Bucharest rising to 28°C (82°F), and temperatures over 35°C (95°F) fairly common in the lower-lying areas of the country.
Winters can be cold, with average maxima even in lower-lying areas reaching no more than 2°C (36°F) and below −15°C (5°F) in the highest mountains.

Administrative division

Romania is divided into 41 counties and the municipality of Bucharest. Each county is further subdivided into cities and communes. There are a total of 319 cities and 2.686 communes in Romania. A total of 103 of the larger cities have municipality statuses.
