Climate

Lebanon has a moderate Mediterranean climate. In coastal areas, winters are generally cool and rainy whilst summers are hot and humid. In more elevated areas, temperatures usually drop below freezing during the winter with heavy snow cover that remains until early summer on the higher mountaintops.
Average temperature ranges in Beirut are from 11 to 17°C (52 to 63°F) in January to 23 to 32°C (73 to 90°F) in August. 

Administrative division

Lebanon is divided into six governorates which are further subdivided into twenty-five districts. The districts themselves are also divided into several municipalities, each enclosing a group of cities or villages.
