Temporary crown

What is the Temporary crown?

Temporary crowns are made of plastic, acrylic or stainless steel and can be used as a temporary restoration until a permanent crown is constructed by the dental laboratory.

A temporary dental crown is placed to protect your teeth and gum tissues while a custom restoration is being created for you in a dental laboratory. In addition, this temporary crown will help prevent the adjacent teeth from shifting, ensuring that your final custom-crafted crown will fit.

A temporary crown will usually be cemented in place with soft temporary dental cement. This allows for easy removal when fitting the definitive restoration.

Although the temporary dental crown should be very comfortable, you may need to alter your eating and oral hygiene habits slightly to ensure the temporary stays in place between appointments.
